Faqs

How much does it cost?

We get asked this an awful lot and its hard to answer; kinda like being asked "how much does a car cost?" Give us a call and we can let you know the ballpark range of our services.

We always provide full quotes up front and try to break them down as much as possible to allow you to pick and choose the services offered.

We wont be the cheapest quote, but we should be the best price for the quality of service.

If you are looking for your first website a good rule of thumb is to budget between $150 - $200 per page. This should cover everything from design, imaging, seo, domain name and hosting.

Will you get me to the top of Google?

Yes, but it does not come free or easy; despite of the spam you may have received offering it for $49.95. Take a wander through our Articles section to understand this a bit more.

Can you suggest things to help my online business?

Absolutely. We have been at this for over 12 years and have a solid knowledge of web marketing, customer retention strategies and overall online business practices. All this advice is free for our clients.

Why the name PlainJanes?

We started designing travel websites back when dinosaurs roamed....ok...not quite that long ago, but it was in the early days. Backgrounds were gray, text was black and graphics were problematic.

Then things started changing and at warp speed cruised from the delightful town of Boring, passing the suburb of Tasteful and straight ahead to the metropolis of Very Scary. We got electric backgrounds and animated gif's and things that blinked. While dancing hamsters were amusing, they did little to get our clients business.

That is what we focused on - driving customers to our clients sites and retaining the customer on the site. Because, with a customer on your site you had a good chance of selling to him if you were not blinding him with electric blue blinking text.

So, in a time where the Blink Tag was king - we wanted to focus on the Tasteful, the Artful and the Successful. Hence, PlainJanes.

Do you hand code css?

I totally don't get why people ask this. Neither do my partners. We have thousands of dollars of web software that can streamline the awkwardness of hand coding, yet people still want us to use a free microsoft accessory program.

I don't get it. I can read it, I can understand it and I can tweak it - but don't ask me to hand code it. I have better things to do than memorize all the colour codes.
